DIY: How To Hollow Out Pennies!

In this video I hollow out some pennies with chemicals that are easy to obtain at any hardware store.

Here is an old video that I made that I never put on Youtube, but I figured this might be interesting to some so I put it on here.

The reason why this works is because the HCl (Muriatic Acid) easily reacts with Zinc but won't touch copper. All US pennies made after 1982 are made of copper plated zinc, so only a foil thin layer of copper covers the pennies. The HCl dissolves the zinc but leaves the copper behind.
