In April 2006 Professor Tom Mardikes traveled to London with eight graduate sound design students to spend a day recording an original song in Abbey Road's famed recording Studio 2. We recorded "The Wedding Song," (Supervising Editor, AME, James Gaar) a pop song written by Patrick Meagher for the December 2004 UMKC Theatre production of "The Circus Show." For five weeks the students rehearsed as a group, with Patrick playing guitars and singing lead vocals, Jason playing bass and singing harmonies, Kristian playing drums, Matt Janszen at the piano in Studio 2, and all singing the chorus. A week before leaving for London, we produced a full recording in our own studios, taking 20+ hours for tracking, overdubs and mixing.
