Tarsem's 20-year labour of love, the feast for the eyes that is The Fall, is a spectacular fantasy about tall tales and coercion, it's a beautiful achievement. We spoke to the enthusiastic director about filming around the world, refusing to use special effects and taking inspiration from his old school teacher.

  • This film is one of the most visually stunning pieces of work I've ever seen. I'm really not surprised that it took 17 years of location scouting. Its deep and has a strong emotional impact. If you are the kind of person who occasionally cries when watching a movie this one will have you in floods.

  • one of the greatest movies ever

  • @OddOneOut665 LOL I was just about to say that.

  • (What I kept hearing throughout the interview)

ASK ME WHAT IT MEANS! ASK ME WHAT IT MEANS!!!!

    :P

  • @TheNEONSociety I know. Some people cannot get past the scenery and miss the whole point of the film. Tarsem does not throw a bunch of stunning landscapes together with some story. The stories he tells have so much to them and the scenery is complementary to it. I will say that I love the Cohen brothers. Very talented, but yes, so is Tarsem.

  • I wish critics would stop labelling this man's works as just "eye candy." There are deeply, almost subconsciously, haunting messages perched within the imagery. The stories are simple, yet effective. An image tells a thousand words so there's no need for "filler" dialogue for exposition. I don't get why they hail the Cohen brothers as "masters" of witty dialogue, yet fail to appreciate Tarsem as the "master" of cinematography. This man truely loves the art of cinema.

  • SPOILER kind of.. but how come he says no special effects, but in the movie near the end there's birds coming out of the mystics mouth.. unless he's telling us the actor was actually spewing live birds out of his mouth

  • looks like Snyder got his idea of Sucker Punch from this film. just a thought

  • He should've directed The Last Airbender.

  • Can't wait to see Tarsem Singh's "Snow White"...

  • amazing! bravo Catinca!

  • An absolutely stunning piece of work. Visually enthralling, Intelligent.

Scripted and acted out to perfection.

Make no mistake, Tarsem Singh is up there with the greats of film makers.

His work deserves the full attention of any film lovers out there who like to be challenged intellectually and also fully entertained.
