  • Harmonico101, My reading indicates, that Handel was surprised to see the trio sonata manuscripts after all those years.

  • @shnimmuc well do those manuscripts survive today? That's the question isn't it? Either way, it appears we have a discrepancy in our readings.

  • Handel earliest manuscripts to survive are his trio sonatas of his 11th year.

  • @shnimmuc from what I recall, those pieces survive only in later copies.
