  • would you know anything about a 86 johnson 28 bogging, I have a vid of it doing it.

  • start w/ fresh fuel. water settles at the bottom of the tank and where is the pick-up? :) Consequently, the gas is lower octane and lacks lubrication. E10 exacerbates the problem. always give the tank a good shake before each use.

  • @Motorfordtoyota My motor sounded like crap in this video; replaced the gas. The check valve in the primer was also shot so I replaced that assembly. ran like a champ afterwards...replaced the fuel-pump for good measure. Make sure your fuel lines aren't cracked/leaking also.

  • @Motorfordtoyota I hear many blame the CD ignition system before checking a simple yet most sensitive system...fuel.

check compression in each cylinder (you probably did...what was the offset between the 2?).

Keep updating! I think that motor has alot of years left in it if the rings/cylinders/pistons aren't damaged. you seem like the kind of guy that takes care of his gear!

  • @cbaiocco We still havent checked the compression (no checker) but I did find that there was some thing in the high speed. Cleaned that outr real good, I think it may work now! We ordered the plugs that we need and they should get in later this week. We are going to run syntehtic oil in it (my grandfather says that stuff is miles ahead of conventional oil, doesnt gum up or something like that).

  • @Motorfordtoyota If you're running a 2 stroke, I would stick wtih 2-stroke oil. I only use Evinrude 2-stroke in mine...maybe I'm paranoid. If it's a 4-stroke,then by all means go with the synthetic. Try iboats.com if you're not sure...alot of good guys on their willing to share their knowledge. good luck!

  • @cbaiocco My grandfather (the one who gave us the boat) told us to run 2-stroke synthetic. He says its miles ahead of conventional stuff cause it doesnt break down and gum up at or not as bad as conventional stuff. And we are going to run that Stay Bil marine ethonal stuff to help eat at the ethonal deposits and stuff like that! Cool, Ill be able to let you know Saturday when we get to the lake!

  • And would you recomend putting that StayBil brand fuel treatment in the first time we run it. Its supposed to eat at deposit build ups and keep that from happening again. And we are going to run that Shell nitrogen stuff in it to. Would you recomend those things? We are going on a Vacation to Wiess Lake, AL this week and we are going to test her there. Thanks!
