the navy was working on a way to make the ship uss eldridge invisible.
this phenomenon is naturally occurring, and there have been cases where entire islands have disappeared from view in the right weather conditions. the high frequency generator would heat up the surrounding air and the water (creating a green-colored fog that was said to have engulfed the ship), causing a mirage to form, concealing the ship from view for about fifteen minutes. there are also details such as crewmen being fused to the hull of the ship and some not even reappearing.

the destroyer did in fact disappear and was teleported across space and time.
when the ship reappeared, the crew were all in a state of disorientation. some were mentally ill, while other crewmen didn't even return. there were also accounts of people who were on the ship, spontaneously combusting.

preston nichols worked with al bielek on the psychic aspects of the montauk chair and the montauk boys program. preston trained the montauk boys to be "psi warriors".

the montauk chair used subtle quantum fields to read a person's thoughts. a psychic would lay in the chair, go into a trance, and a group of coils pick the emanations. a bank of radio receivers designed by tesla would pick up and digitize the thought. turning thought into computer code. the radar tower was used to turn thought into reality.

this chair was used for many purposes. one was to open up a vortex for time travel. many montauk boys were lost during the initial testing of the time vortex.

al bielek used to be ed cameron, brother of duncan cameron, but time traveled and came back as a different person. after time traveling to the past duncan cameron's soul was transplanted into a child born to his parents, turning the old duncan cameron into the new duncan cameron.

even if some genius managed make a ship invisible, it would probably be an optical illusion, not a physical reality. the MIND can travel to a different time or place, the body can NOT. scientists have managed a very basic short distance (like a millimeter) particle transfer, but we are still MILES away from teleportation or PHYSICAL time travel.
