Normandy Development wants to develop the Riverside MBTA site. How come the MBTA and MADOT have not insisted on restoring the old connection with the Boston-Worcester train line? Before 1953 the B&A ran trains around Newton via Riverside.
The restoration of this link would allow commuters to switch at Riverside to the "D" line to get to the medical area or to go to BoSox games. Plus, Newton would have fewer illegally parked cars.
I have met a few of the past staff of the MBTA that are responsible for the Green Line. About seven years ago I attended a meeting at Northeastern where I suggested that the MBTA should add another track at Fenway to store trolleys for use during rush hour and around BoSox games. I repeated the request a few years ago at a meeting at the Newton's city hall. So far, the MBTA has done nothing other than add a track without overhead catenary.

IMHO, these actions would handle rush hours.
