Real world curbs and steps are much higher, this isn't a realistic comparison. Also, putting your rear wheels right against the step or curb is a good technique if you lean far forward and push up. It's the gentlest, most controlled way to go. If you are using a parking meter to pull yourself up, it is the only way to do it - wheels right against the curb.

Hi I've been in a wheelchair all my life but i can climb up steps myself with out my chair. This may sound a really daft question but can you get up big steps too? As it would be easier to master how to get up steps without having to get out of my chair or have someone with me.

that is 2 easy lol i am in a chair but ur right with the back wheel if it is clsoe it harder to get up but u can do it

I've been in a wheelchair most of my life and never quite gotten the hang of steps and all, I can do em but they're a frickin pain, thanks for the tips and the different perspective!

I am glad it has had some use. Youtube is a powerful resource for pasing on info from different perspectives.
