That should be cool on water.

wow

this reminds me of those anime'(s) where the world just moves below who's walking..
o.o you put up monitors, and you could navigate a 3D environment, and you'd feel like you were actually walking through the environment..

if it gets further enhancements, its most likely going to be used for gaming systems or possibly rehabilitation programs.

this is a strange idea

I'm really trying to figure out how this could ever be useful for something. Other than maybe replacing a standard treadmill "walker" exercising machine. Or maybe if the little robots moved so fast, and would continuously loop so quickly that you could be walking at regular speed, but the robots are actually gliding on the ground twice as fast... but then again, why not just use a robot that you can sit comfortably on with wheels? I dunno. At least he's having fun building'em I guess.

@abermants yes i watched it, and from what i saw it looks like the tiles are meant to allow a person to walk forward without actually changing their position, just like a treadmill. of course it doesn't work like a treadmill in any way, and you can freely change direction with these, but they still serve the same basic function: they allow people to accelerate while staying in the same place

@Cuddlebunzzz Did you not watch the video?
-
they will add this shit to the next wii xD

don't treadmills do pretty much the same thing as these?

In the future they could have thousands of small versions of those robots that could also stack on top of one another so they form three dimensional structures to simulate unstable terrain or stairs.

its clearly in its early stages. give it ten years and watch what it can do. it could possible even allow you to put a full car on it and make it seem like your driving if they work on this right.....
