@atvrider7 orrr.... the fire company didnt press the issue for him. There are a lot of guys that take a few years, whether it be finding the time, or any other of a bunch of reasons. Hes a crackpot, plain and simple.

@jaggy319 dude come on lets not go there dude. Anyway, at least in Ocean County, your a probationary member of your local fire department while your attending the fire academy, which is generally a six month span. once thats completed and passed FireFighter 1 training, your a firefighter. so there is no way that he would be a volunteer without completing the academy.

@JDEngine2 10 codes aren't supposed to be used anymore because IMS and incident commands want common wording used now. I'm a volly in Ocean County, NJ

i really dont know why i want to help people? i guss it started when i was little and my mom was sick and i saw the fire dept help her and i new right then and there thats what i wanted to do..i wanna be the guy that runs into a burning building while everybody is running out...its not a job..not about the pay...its a special place in your heart that wants to help people...just saying

got to love that its Brian Williams who is doing this. For anyone that doesn't know Brian was a career firefighter in New Jersey before finishing school and going into the news. Fantastic person, one of the rare gems in media
