  • Go away, Boomers. This world will not miss you.

  • Despite my previous post I have sympathy for the Boomers in this video but they need to realize that the job market has dramatically changed. What got you hired 20 years ago no longer applies. Companies are looking for fresh minds that understand internet networking and do not want to train anyone. You need to think like the workers that are being hired. That has nothing to do with age but a mindset and a point of view. Good luck to those looking for work.

  • discrimination claims are exaggerated. youngsters have it way worse than old timers.

  • @acheverie

You 100% absolutely right. This is a very complicated problem, maybe the Occupy movement will fix this broken system.

  • I'm sorry for the baby boomers that have a hard time finding employment after putting themselves into dept. It must be frightening. But let's be honest, the attitude for age discrimination and cutting costs in businesses was created by the boomers themselves. Younger less experienced workers will take a pay cut because they are desperate to pay off dept they NEEDED to take on for their education. This problem is much more complicated and serious than most understand.

  • @MoonChild062884 thanks. Yes I keep up with new technology and take several free classes online. I plan tokeep updating my skills.

  • @RadioLaPrincess

Keep at it and don't give up, I took me 5 months find the job I have today. It might not be exactly what I wanted but it pays the bills. Job fairs can be depressing, but they're always 1 or 2 companies their worth applying to. That's how I got my job. Also just keeping up with Technology is not good enough. Their are millions of tutorials online to help you learn how to use new software for computer programs that may lead to job in entirely new field.

  • all the boomers screwed up, the lost generation, get out, we need jobs now, stop sucking the system dry

  • I'm the guy at the job fair and CBS reporter asked me for interview. He must've asked me questions for 10 minutes but it got edited to 5 seconds. lol Anyway, I'd love to get hired to a decent salaried or hourly position, so I can stop supporting myself on early 401K distributions and continuing to incur huge tax penalties. Have tried the 100% commission jobs such as real estate, and in this economy those have not worked out. I'm willing to accept less money, but overqualified label is tough.

  • Older job seekers, whether in the USA or here in NZ, are seen as human garbage by society and by the majority of employers. Sadly, that won't change any time soon and for a lot of people it may already be too late.
