Fast fishing charter boat goes full speed at the rocks (safely!)

Must have a LOT of horsepower to make this rocky approach out of the pounding Oregon surf into the 'World's Smallest Harbor', Depoe Bay, Oregon. The skipper waffled and backed up on the first approach, then made this successful run. Would've been worth their affordable charter fee just to take this ride! Note that Depoe IS the harbor featured in the movie 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'. The bridge here is filmed from the other side in the movie...

Something tells me that captian knows the waters fairly well.

He might also go through that channel at planing speed to reduce his draft, if the water is shallow (which it probably is). And, if there's a strong current and wind (which there appears to be) then going fast helps overcome or compensate for those forces.
