Opening excerpt from the sermon :( 42:45)

"It's a great joy for me to share with you this morning, we who try to follow the way of Jesus. When grace comes to us, we awaken. It's all about awakening. Advent the coming is all about awakening. Awakening when it happens is always grace. We cannot make ourselves be enlightened. We can go to a cave; we can fast for forty days and forty nights and say, "I will come out enlightened."
I want to share with you a journey of grace in my life, and isn't that the best thing we ever do with each other when we say "let me tell you what happened to me..." This awakening right into this gospel passage we heard today" but I say to you love your enemies, I say to you pray for those who hurt you, because the gospel of Jesus when I awaken to the call of social justice, to the call to go deeper than just being charitable to people around me, the call that the awakening to the love of God invited me into resistance against injustice and not passivity."

"We come to community because we cannot make it without the community and it's a pleasure for me, a beautiful precious grace for me to be allowed to share a bit of my journey this morning. Lord Jesus, teach us to be alert, to stand, to watch, to want, to long for your coming to become fresh in our lives, Amen."
