R and R of headlight bulb on a Chevrolet Trailblazer. Y'all are making too much of it! The only tools you need are attached to your wrist.

  • My arms are too big....

  • @sqsucks That's the painful consequence of mis-spent time at the gym. Be careful popping off the grille. The older the plastic, the more brittle it gets.

  • @TargetDriver y did u say mis-spent time? would u say i mis-spend my time because i have a 6 pack and a forearm the size of ur bicep?

  • @PoppinKizz Yup, terrible thing, I'm sure. Having to spend extra to get shirts that fit right and women not giving you any peace...must be rough ; )

How did you end up getting that light changed? Did you run into any trouble going in from the front?

  • One thing I ought to have mentioned was to not touch the glass with your fingers. The oil from your skin will bake off and leave black carbon tracks that cause the glass to soak up heat and melt.

The toughest part is twisting out the bulb with your hand and wrist at an odd angle.

  • When you held up your arm I thought, "I got one of them!" I had just left AutoZone where I was told I would have to remove the whole grill just to change one light bulb. Sounded like crap to me. Your video saved me a lot of hassle and broken stuff. Thanks!

  • @PastorMikmac

My thoughts exactly...after I had already done the grille R&R. I didn't want anybody else to have to go through all that nonsense. I hope you didn't lose any skin or blood on that. I was pretty raw after a few takes.

  • glad we saw this...Advance said they couldn't help me change the bulb b/c they would have to remove parts to do it, so I brought it home to my husband and we found this video, which helped both of us keep our sense of humor when wrestling with the stupid way auto makers have designed this junk ---both headlights now changed.......thanks.....

  • @TargetDriver Well im a master ASE tech...just saw the vid as a facebook post so i thought i'd check it out since i used to work on all GM models...now im just cadillac...but yeh...my arm does not fit in that space...taking the grille off isn't hard to do so that is my method :)

  • Awesome video! It literally took me only 5 minutes to change my headlight bulb after watching this. The hardest part is not leaving a chunk of flesh on the bracket. I wedged a paper towel next to my arm. Thank you!

  • Thanks! Saved me a lot of time.

  • You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. My passenger-side high-beam went out, and after popping the hood and beginning to remove the entire headlight assembly, I thought: "There's gotta be an easier way...". After watching this video, the new bulb was in and functioning in less than 5 minutes (inadvertently disconnected the plug before removing the bulb, and almost dropped the plug inside the assembly). Many thanks!

  • My husband started taking apart the front also and stopped to check youtube. His arm was too big to fit, but mine just made it. Thanks for the warning about the bracket - I cushioned it a bit first so my skin is only bruised instead of broken! Next time, though, I'll change the easy side first so I'll get a feel for where things are on the side I can't see.
