Breath of Fire IV LLG Part 01 - Kahm, Joh, Skulfish

Starting up a new Breath of Fire challenge: Low Level Game No Meditation!

Yep, no dragon forms here either, and low level is to be understood as in EXP distribution by killing people. Actually, the game trys to distribute EXP somehow, the ones with less level gain more while with more then average gain less. Still, this mechanism doesn't take into account some need more EXP to level, as well as initial level and such. Also, I do not know how exactly this mechanism works, so getting EXP distribution data is a pain in the ass. Hence, I will only distribute EXP to multiple people in a fight in a few very special cases, or those that do not matter.

On another note, Fou-Lu battles give Ryu EXP in the following ways: Fou-Lu's gained EXP * Factor * Ryu's Level + Number of battles fought (even if run away). This means fighting battles, even when running, as Fou-Lu is a downside. Also, keeping Ryu low might be a possibility to gain one less level then what I will do, but that would include extreme EXP distribution that I simply do not think is possible (remember the EXP thing? think Ight). I'd have to do some re-playing after this challenge, or get someone to tell me how the mechanism works. Other then that, I will be aiming for everyone to be at level 25. While it MIGHT be possible to finish with Nina on 24 and everyone else on 25, there would be a high amount of data mining, trial and error as well as luck be required to do so. IF it is possible at all (pure number PoV says it is, but distribution suggest it is not).

Let's get to the video. First battle is Fou-Lu charging at Kham. Remember, no meditation? Still, nothing. On a sidenote, I took the SuperVitamin after the bossfight, it has a crucial role to fulfill later. Ryu gains 11 EXP here: 9 from boss EXP, 1 from boss battle and 1 from a random encounter on the way. He becomes level 2 that way, too.

Next up is Nina VS Joh. Nothing different from a normal game, so no hard feelings for short description.

Third is our first group battle VS Skulfish. Not a hard battle either with Nina supposed to win. Heal can damage it and attacks are just fine, too. Just to keep track about its HP and have Ryu and Ershin die in time. Not even confuse was a too hard thing to deal with.

@MoogleBoss true, that Confuse might have done me in, I seriously thought "damn gotta do this a second time" when recording but it worked out.

By the way: 720p! Guess I finally found some ok recording settings. Sound seems fine as well for most part.

Splendid! This should be an interesting series to follow. I'm trying to go back and play these "old" classics with a different challenge twist as well. Looking forward to seeing this challenge unfold.
