Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Sand Wash Basin Horse Management Area. I camped two nights in the basin and have this video to share. 463 horses on 150,000 acres, or 243 square miles. Wild Horses are the last third of video, rest is scenery.

  • I appreciate your interest in the wild horses of Sand Wash. I spent this last summer documenting them for a study. I just wanted to make one comment-in your shots of the horses, they are running away. These horses are amazingly tolerant, and for the most part, you really need to agitate them to make them run and keep running. In the future, try to walk slowly, and hunker down in the sage. This will limit the "harassment" and they may even come closer to check you out.
