My first experiment with Kite Aerial Photography (KAP).
I used a 4-ft wingspan Delta kite, 50-pound test Nylon string, an 8GB Creative Vado HD video camera, and a 6-inch homemade Picavet of wood, metal brackets, epoxy, and zip-ties. Picavet attached 75 or so feet down from the kite.
The flight was about 25 minutes. We had success on the second launch. Had the string out to 900 feet at one point, couldn't see the camera anymore, and thought it fell into the reservior. At one point, a hawk was swooping at and attacking my camera. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to capture him in the video. :(
Editing tools used Virtual Dub 1.9.10, with Deshaker 2.5, edited with Cyberlink PowerDirector 8. (Shifting borders are from stabilizing video with Deshaker.)
Music is "13-Concerto for Flute and String Orchestra in D major- Allegro" by Vivaldi.
Filmed 10/19/2010 at Cobbs Hill Park, Rochester NY.
