  • Really nice. It sounds hard. I've always liked this one. Can someone tell me what tuning it's in please?

  • It's in standard tuning (that's what I play it in anyway ;) I've got the tab, if you want it, let me know

  • are you bert jansch?

  • wish I was man, wish I was...

    (try searching him on YouTube)

  • I was kidding... you look a lot like him and you play really freaking well. I'm thoroughly impressed.

  • hehe, thamks man...just bought a dvd of him playing (in 2006), real fun to watch - though he does sometimes forget a lyric or to...

  • Geat version penguin, but tell me,how'd you learn this? can't find a tab or a vid? you must be pretty shit hot to learn it by ear.

  • A boody good attempt at playing the impossible.Bert Jansch himself did'nt play this live very often as even he found it difficult.Could you please send me the tab.raychappell@blueyonder.co.uk

  • Super job. I was at the gig Bert did on 18th November 1974. I remember it very well. The recording made that night surfaced on The River Sessions album and it's the only time I've seen Bert play this tune live. Very difficult, even for Bert.

You do a a very nice job indeed.

Also on the album.. 'In the Bleak Midwinter' Bert Style in Dropped D. Well worth a listen , for the arrangement. .Superb.

I was there, and it was a superb gig.

    Regards,

    Al.

  • A great rendition thx man.

  • nice job... after hearing bert's performance on "the river sesions" i can really appreciate how difficult it is. you seem to hit most of the notes when you slow it down. good job on what's probably my all-time favorite guitar instrumental.

  • hey, that's really cool. not sure how long ago you sent this to me to attach. sorry i didn't post a comment till now. but, anyhow, that's really nice. i don't know the original, but this makes me want to learn it.

  • That's not bad at all man! If anyone listens to Jansch's original it's a guitarist at the height of his powers, the power and beauty of the piece shine through. I learned about 75% of the tab, took a break for 2 weeks, came back and could hardly play any of it!! You've got to keep the left index finger very supple!

  • Pure gold, you're bloody fantastic. I've loved Berts' stuff since I was 16, I'm now 54 and still in love with his stuff, I can play sum of his tunes but this is the one I would really like to learn, just didn't know where to start! Spoke to Bert himself at a gig about it once and afterwards he showed me how it's done,(nice guy) but he said he would't play it in a set anymore, it's too bloody difficult! sorry to be a pain but could I please beg for the tab off you, I promise it won't go to waste.

  • Penguinharry you're a legend, not seen anyone play that one bar you! Im presuming thats standard tuning? Certainly sounds like it! Well done!

  • Man, you deserve some sort of an award for that! Amazing! Can you forward me the tab at all? Cheers, you're a legend!
