The Neybuzz:
"Augustus Pablo meets Curtis Mayfield on Independent Street"
The neyBuzz is a collective of some of the most talented musicians in the San Francisco Bay area. The collective is a pool of constantly revolving talented musicians, artists, dancers and visionaries to bring a sound imprint of the Bay Area at the moment. The neyBuzz family firmly believes in the power of sound to transmit information and engage the mind to nurture the human spirit. We assemble our alternative sound through our shared spirit, history, experiences and laughter. And the unifying result can be labeled everything from Dub, Soul, funk, Indie to feral Rock.
80 Bug (vocalist) -- richly textured vocalist, has been much in demand by just about every label and bands in the Bay Area and California. 80 bug's creativity has taken her from fronting heavy metal bands, to pushing the envelope with hard rock bands, and being the emcee of full on hip hop jams in underground clubs.
Abdul (percussions) a fellow conscious resistor, has developed a unique set of percussive skill. He has been a veteran of the Reggae Bay area music scene and continues to play an important part in it.
Chris K. (vocals) A true visionary and multitalented artist. He has the future in the palm of his hands... but he doesn't know it. Art, music -- he'll put his imprint in it. What emerge are traces of humanity at its best and visions of the future of music culture.
Eddie (drums) is really the star attraction of the collective; He ditched modeling for the music. Gotta love that decision. He says that drumming has been his life since infancy. Among the more obvious groups he's worked with are Undercover Ska and the legendary Skatalites.
Freddie (Bass) might as be called the zoo keeper around here. He keeps us motivated and on point musically and psychically. But most of all his bass playing establishes a sense of balance needed during our jam sessions.
Ismael (producer / mouth harp) -- was the co-founder of BPM Records which became the epicenter of dance culture in the Bay Area. He created the seminal radio show Dreadlock Soldier Hour which became a must listen for dub/dancehall devotees. He also put together various collectives to reflect the musical landscape and thought processes of the Bay Area, among them: Dub Addxx Band, TrueFunkeosis, The BudWrestlers. He does not have a cat.
Kwome (drummer) quiet, resolute and does deep analytical studies of Reggae drumming. He is the first ninja drummer. He comes in the studio. Lights it up... and Blam! We have to collect our collective jaws off the floor while he's already touring with some of the biggest acts in Reggae.
The Lafferty Horn Cartel (Sax, Trombones, Keys)
The hidden geniuses among us. Unkle Mike and Bumpa Travis are two tremendously gifted musicians who've encompassed all genre of music to form new musical expressions. Their ground breaking combination of sound has led us to territories we were only marginally aware of. All substance, no filler; their treatments of our sound have led to milestones in our musical development.
Mansoor (engineer / guitars, bass, background vocals)
He's the whirling dervish in the recording studio, twisting knobs and positioning microphones and snaking cables. To top it all, he spreads magic dust with the aura of his superior guitar and bass playing.
Michael (keyboards/ melodica) was the founder of one of the most important Bay area reggae band: Lambsbread. An accomplished musician, he has been sharpening his tools backing the biggest stars in Reggae music and studio works.
Mitch (vocalist / harmonica) -- He is a vocalist who can by turn master the hues of Wonder and Mayfield, has also developed a voice of his own. In truth, he is the teacher/ artist of the band; He is a painter, poet and art school teacher.
Vicente (Congas / percussions) This guy doesn't mess around. A veteran of the San Francisco music scene, he's seen it all. By now, he's the resident expert in Afro Cuban, Salsa rhythms. In his elements, he heads the premier Afro Cuban Jazz combo called Jazz Sabor.
