Of course this would have to be an animation because there exist no real footage of the earth rotating. This is designed to give you the illusion that the earth rotates when in fact it doesn't. Whoever made this animation should be ashamed of themselves for trying to trick people.

Technically yes, it can be considered a film but that is not my contention. When I look at this film/animation I see what appears to be the earth rotating, but is it really? Most likely Galileo just orbited the earth and took a series of photos and did not remain stationary. There is no way to tell since there are no stars visible at all, which would provide a point of reference. Just something to think about.

@useful777 I understand your point. Well, the title here is not as precisely because we all now that Earth is rotating and it would look similar. Your viewpoint is very sophisticated, I mean, perhaps Galileo was stationary at this point for a while related to the planet, who knows? Than the title would be correct. Even a camera on the moon or another planet would'nt show Earth rotating with this viewpoint, right?

@useful777. Not true. We took the first photographs of a nasa satellit flying around the globe (therefor "rotating"). As you know a film is one foto after another, so all we had to do was to make it a bit faster. But its real. Its earth and how she looks. Isnt it a gift?
