It has been often remarked how wholly his own are Shakespeare's witches. Comparing them with Middleton's, which are able creations, we comprehend more fully the majesty and weirdness that belong to the tempters of Macbeth. May it not be that the dignity and peculiar interest that clothes them is greatly due to the fact that they are, indeed, the outcries of sinful desires in the human heart, and that intuitively we feel something of this, however little we analyze the poet's art?

In a school project my teams alternate macbeth rendition we had to alter something about this scene so we gave each witch a radically different personality but the same dialog - First Witch (Crone) a crabbed old women who kept forgetting her lines, Second Witch (Mother) bored middle aged who couldnt be bothered, Third Witch (Maiden) a crazed hippy chick who rapped her lines ... just goes to show how different you can make a scene without changing any of Shakesperes words

we watched this my senior year of high school and all these witches were like 90 year old women that were BUTT ass naked. They had like skin tags and were all saggy and stuff...
