  • @FaithandReason101 No, your story started "God created the world perfect and without death". It's repeated so much that some people think it's true, even though it's full of holes.

  • @FaithandReason101 What word did you define? The story you said above - repeated ad nauseaum (!) is just a story with no relationship to the actual world Why would you believe it?

  • @FaithandReason101 Well, he's doing a somewhat underhanded trick. First he says it's not scientific, but it's true and then he pretends that it describes the actual universe - which it does not. It's sloppy thinking.

  • @farvision is defining a word, 'make believe?' if so, then i can conclude you don't believe in elementary kids learning new words.

  • @farvision i haven't told a story. i've only explained that words have meaning; that 'myth' need not mean something 'untrue.'

  • @farvision you've completely missed the point of Fr. Barrons' video. Genesis is not meant to be a scientific explanation of creation, so much as a relational one. God to man.

  • @FaithandReason101 Yes a myth by luck might match the actual universe. However, of the thousands of creation myths espoused by religions, not one correctly predicted geosynchronous satellites. They are all, basically, wrong since they were made up by ignorant peoples.

  • @FaithandReason101 but your story can't be confirmed until you demonstrate that your god exists ... and you haven't. So what you said is all make believe.

  • @farvision just because something is 'myth,' does not mean it is also not true. you are thinking of the word 'myth' as meaning a falsehood, or fairytale; myth can also mean a traditional or legendary story, usually concerning some being or hero or event, with or without a determinable basis of fact or a natural explanation. so it can be true, and also be a myth.

  • @farvision the "tortured world" /cruel god argument again? really? sad. lets cut to the chase. in the hierarchy of goods, free will is among the highest intrinsic to mankind. God created the world perfect and without death, without pain, without starvation etc. MAN chose through free will to turn away from this perfection, and thus has reaped what he has sown. God loves us so much, that he will not rescinde the gift of free will. He did send a savior instead! beautiful!
