UP 8601 West, on the Belvidere sub, Through South Elgin, Illinois

A lone SD70Ace pulls a load of empty autoracks destined for the Chrysler plant in Belvidere, Illinois. The train slowly worked its way around a blind curve into a neighbor area. Once the head end got beyond that, the train started to pick up speed. This was, at least to me, an uncommon daylight move.

I edited out about two minutes of autorack sameness. There was a total of about 78 cars.

I haven't been in Elgin in 25+ yrs. Is this the old C&NW line? Because I remember those tracks used to be so bad, trains could not go over 10-20mph.

And since I'm here...are there still trains running through the downtown Elgin? I think it went to Carpentersville. Thanks

@pgronemeier I do believe that this used to belong to the C&NW. There are still some rail lines through Elgin.

Don't listen to him, Bill! Great video and the horn was great! A horn is a horn.. this train passed on the Pana Sub right by the house here acouple days ago. Friday I believe. Symbol is ACEBRE-10. Very nice indeed, Bill! 5/5!
