@vwtch ur right and i love the beatles but right is right

Emitt's music has been in my head for years... had this on 8 track .... this song has been one of my faves for many years ... so superior to the Beatles... single handedly wrote..produce..sang and engineered the recordings all by himself...who else can that..

@slimshine953 Yeah but he sounds JUST LIKE The Beatles! I mean, he's contributing not much.

@KrfNYC2 Well, I partially agree with you... but it's always been this way. A highly popular, successful group or singer is bound to have many imitators. Some very creative, others not so much. An influence as strong and permeating as The Beatles is being heard to this very day. Emitt Rhodes was a guy with plenty of talent who channeled it through the music that he had the most passion for. I don't think he could sounded any other way. It is original, because he wrote the songs. Fine melodies.

@slimshine953 I understand but he's not being original. He seems like he's just trying to sound exactly like The Beatles.

Great songwriting, excellent music, love this guy. Strong pull from McCartney's style... but you can't knock Rhodes for being influenced by the one of the best.

The guitars, bassline and tambourines...close your eyes and it's like listening to the Beatles...I remember you well Emmit Rhodes...couldn't believe this album back in '70...only $5,000 he made for this album...what a shame...

Truly "The One Man Beatles"...WOW....handsome and brilliant! I had this album when I was a young teenager as well as the 45 with The Merry-Go-Round for "Live" and "Time Will Show the Wiser"....his music is TIMELESS and WONDERFUL ...makes me wish for the 60's back again! ROCK ON, EMIITT!!!!!!
It's been historically fashionable to compare Emitt to The Beatles and Paul McCartney but honestly, Emitt surpasses The Beatles / Paul McCartney in many ways. 1) he did 4 albums all by himself 2) he had little money. 3) the public didn't really know he existed 4) his so-called record company was suing him & screwing him instead of supporting and promoting him. 5) he recorded in his garage without any engineers except for mix-down.
Just look at what he created in spite of all. It's Amazing.

I haven't heard this song since I was in high school in the seventies. Love it! Thanks for posting.
