  • i should see that by my own eyes, but there is no dojo of that style near my town

  • Indeed, the dojo nearest to Afghanistan east in India.

  • the way they move and the way one wear the hakama meaning in aikido he is the graded and the other is a simple kyu, all make me thinking they are aikidoka. no distance knowledge, the way they do tsuki. all is aikido style

  • It is a kata of weapons of the kenpo kai, which éxécute slowly.

look the text of my playlist if you know want more of this martial art.

Weapons is a small part of kenpo kai.

PS: in aïkido, as everywhere there are the maid and bad schools,

but if not the founder Morihei Ueshiba was large a budoka.

  • stupid aikidokas

  • very constructive your remark, all the more

    that they are not aikidokas.

  • at 0:17 to 0:19 aprox. when the attacker executes a forward thrust strike to the head or throat- he leaves himself extremely vulnerable to an attack from the sword. given that the sword will cut through the body the defender could take a shot and attack in a cut simultaneously. never thrust strike anyone with a long edged weapon. instead small fast and accurate cross jabs (jabs from the stick which attack at an angle) are more effective. these strikes are to the head temple neck artery etc.

  • at 0:08 whats he doing? it looks too weak for a good ushiro tsuki if hes just drawing the jo back for gedan-gaeshi then why does he look behind taking his eyes off attacker?,

0:29 he blocks horizontly above his head wouldnt the sword just cut thru his stick & into his skull?

0:23 katate hachi-no-ji-gaeshi looks very pretty but what was it for?

it looks like some aikido jo techniques thrown together iam not convinced its koryu stuff like the budo instructor below thinks it is.

  • Also notice how, at the end, the swordsman makes a cutting motion with his hands. This is like saying "It's a done deal, I have no regrets"

  • I'm a Budo instructor with a Japanese based teacher and I can say that these look like legitimate Koryu techniques. Such small details as how the katana (sword) is sheathed (noto) is a give away. Notice how the swordsman grips the very end of the katana for a second.

  • I' dont think is possible to face a sword with such movements. the jo should either avoid the katana or hit the hands. otherwise the wood would be cut, and the fight would end quickly!

  • biarritz is still a bit far from me

  • well i'm not really in afghanistan but shhh

  • ueshiba was a telented person who understood a lot of things in budo... the problem was iaikido wasn't finished and and not transmited with a real control of the art to a designed soke
