NEW UPDATE 3/12/2010: I JUST UPLOADED VIDEOS OF ME DOING POINTE ABOUT 2 YEARS AFTER MY ACL SURGERY!

So, surgery was a breeze considering I was drugged and out. Recovery was the terribly hard part. But this is a quick summary of what I had to endure for the last 2 months. Every time I get gradually better, it takes about a week or two. I'll try to narrate below what's going on, just follow the transitions:

1. post-op, I was depressed, sad, crying, ate a lot, had my pain killers, and iced my knee with this $250 cold therapy unit like every hour I was awake. Leg brace is kept straight and can't bend your knee.

***If you want to BUY my Ice Machine, just message me, cause I'm done using it and I want to sell it. Still like new, and I only used it for the first 2 weeks post-surgery. But the ice machine helped A LOT in "deflating" my super swollen knee. Of course I will sell it for less than $250. ***

***Also, if you want my crutches that I used for like 2-3 weeks, you could message me about buying that too. I'm not sure how much they are. ***

***I guess while I'm at it, you could buy my leg brace too. So my leg brace was approx. $650 (yea I know, ridiculous huh?) (If you thought that was expensive, I looked at the bill for my surgery and it cost like $13,000!).***

2. You can crutch around right after surgery, but I had to show it after my sitting part. So i had to crutch around with this horrific looking brace with people staring at me. it was like i was famous, but not. Leg brace kept straight when walking with crutches.

3. Got rid of crutches once i was able to walk with my leg brace still straight. Leg is very weak so you have to keep brace straight. I limped around pretty badly with it straight.

4. Finally got my range of motion down and could unlock my brace so it could bend and somewhat walk a little normal, tho i was still limping. leg brace still looked horrific and people still stared when i went out.

5. Leg is finally strong enough to do without the leg brace. That's around 3rd week i think. of course i wasn't this bouncy when i first took it off, but it took a couple more weeks to bend, and work out the muscles so i could move like that.

6. I love my high heels i just got and had to put them in. It's been about 2 months and i think i can walk in them now, tho im sure my docs would advise me not to. I am super happy that I am back to normal and dancing around like a crazy person:)

  • My boyfriend is having surgery in two days, and he made the mistake of watching all of the videos on how they do it, and how he is freaked out!

  • @NikkiAliOscar09 Yeah, I did the same and I ended up sobbing. It was so sad. You should have just shown him this video. It's more fun! I hope he is recovering well.

  • I like your positive atitude :) I looked through your description...you said it costed around $13.000...that's a lot of money :O mine was $1.500 (in Romania)...and my brother had an ACL surgery to...he had to pay about $2.500...well I don't know what to say about ,but the sad thing is that you can't appreciate your legs until you have a problem with it

  • Wow! You dance great! Especially look good in heels.If I knew you, I would say sexy;

but I will instead say gracefull and elegant. Keep those heels on girl, because you were

    meant to wear them.

  • @EyeLuvDance4ever Did you have to wear the brace while you slept too? Not trying to sound stupid, but I honestly don't know. When I broke my foot and had a boot, I was allowed to take that off for bed, but idk because ACL surgery is more serious than a broken foot bone :)

  • How long does it take to walk again after surgery?

  • Thanks for this! I think I am headed to ACL surgery soon.

  • i got my knee surgery two days ago. this was my pick me up.

  • I'm getting my surgery in like 3 days.... I'm scared!!

  • Hahaha this is epic, i love it! Much better than all those videos of people just sitting there and going "this is what happened and then this happened next...", very creative!

  • @bsifez hahaha omg i had mine done tuesday too! how do you feel? my first day of physical therapy was today
