@bikerburnout That's on the speedo. It wont do that on a speed gun. (Got the same bike as you ;) )

very nice! i had 140mph out my old 2000 r6 a while bk and iv had 155 out my 03 r6. it was not that near to red line ever i think its probs good for 165 at a push. nice vid m8. check mine out on my page

My buddy hit 160 on his '99 R6. I hit 155 on my '05 YZF600R with a thousand RPM left.

@sebaco2011 I got my stock '04 up to an indicated 168 on level ground, the gages are notoriously optimistic. I think the '04 is just slightly faster than the '99, so there is little doubt you got the bike to that indicated speed. If you want to go really fast you need racing leathers if for no other reason than to not have your jacket and pants flapping around so violently.

How did you put that design in the RPM?

@tomtx06 yea

@tomtx06 Up to 2002 or 2003

@captain150 1 correction with that (which actually proves your point even more), the YZF series of Yamaha are supersports, so redlining is what they were made for!
-
@captain150 lol did wonder if you would reply,
welll yeah then your right. R6 being a very focused bike an all that!

@L4Isoside I agree, you don't want to actually *hit* the rev limiter, but for most sportbike engines you want to be as close to it as possible. This is particularly the case for the R6.
Well you have a couple misconceptions there.
1. Redlining an engine for a youtube video doesn't decrease it's life. Even redlining an engine frequently (especially a sportbike engine) doesn't decrease it's life very much.
2. Maximum power tends to be very close to redline, especially for a sportbike engine. You want to stay as close as possible to this max power for max accel. Even if the power starts dropping off, you want to hit redline so that the next gear starts near max power.
