you should make a clean install and then when you done install all the updates available for vista and give it a go, theyre identical speed

@doubleatheman The T400 is less than 3 years old. I believe that it came out in 2007-2008. Anyway, it doesn't matter. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 on my ThinkPad T42, which actually is from about 5 years ago, and it booted up in 38.3 seconds.

wow windows 7 is faster. but my vista turns on in couple of seconds. no joke. my computer is almost a year old.
