@windberjohnstown At this point Diana couldn't refuse shit. She had no clout at this point. They had just started. She was never considered for this song anyway-didn't have the right voice. Later when their first hit song happened to have her singing lead she was given the green light to sing lead on almost everything, which wasn't always a good idea either. On their Sam Cooke album, the other women's soulful voices would have faired better.

I love me buttered popcorn. I can't understand why this song didn't click. It has hit written all over and Flo is simply delicious.

@windberjohnstown Diana was never ever considered for this song, only Flo was considered as Gordy knew she was the right one for the job. xxxx

I cannot imagine Diana Ross singing about greasy sticky gooey popcorn, I am sure she refused to sing lead on this third-rate song.

Diana Ross' Voice was NOT at all suited for This Soulful Song. Florence's Vocals were obviously needed to Carry this Song. Mary, Diana, or Barbara were not suited for this.
Thnx for cmmnting

@suedemiddleton I agree, only Flo was suited for this song, she has the right voice for the song and she could do it in her own style, she was great, I love Barbara on this too, This is from the new Meet the Supremes Expanded edition boxset and the whole CD is excellent, xxx
