actually, there is a film on YouTube of Gershwin himself playing this piece and he plays it at pretty much the same tempo as Cazal. Maybe it's other pianists that are playing it too slow!

there are 3 , gilels, liszt and cazal

@AdamKuczynski The point of the speed is merely to impress the audience with his skillset, which he does with impeccable style!

This is one of the scariest renditions I've ever heard in my life. If he isn't a Gershwin specialist full time, he should be!!

Why would this awesome pianist waste his time with William Bolcom when he plays Gershwin like this? excellent. And I disagree with these dumb comments saying it's too fast. That's the point of this arrangement. Incredible pianist! I can do without the faces though.

Way too fast. Not pleasant to listen to, unlike Gershwin's or Gibbons' recording.
-
@SuperMikeC65 Actually we dont know how fast he played it. At the time it was recorded, cameras would film just as fast as the operator cranked it.

Fabulous

Gershwins mind moved like greased lightening, Cazals hands do the same, favourited for ever !!!!

The beginning is the original Gershwin version, followed by the Earl Wild's etude

Oh, yes sorry, I have it by Earl Wild, exactly this interpretation.... Jack Gibbons have different interpretation of that, too. they all are interesting. I just heard Jack's recently. Gershwin's music is infinite...it can be played in SO MANY WAYS.....Isn't is great?
