If you are interested in Yoga chanting and need a drone instrument, these are a nice inexpensive way to be as authentic as possible. There are a few potential other uses, but I think you should use this primary for singing.

  • They sound really great when played along side Darbuka drums! Icollect a lot of Indian Instruments & a lot of Mid-East gear! If I were to bow an instrument like this I'd likely use a Rabab or Turkish spiked fiddle bow,but yeah..not all models are suited for bowing really

  • @NuclearLullaby I agree, BTW, I checked out some of your videos and you have some very sophisticated/cool stuff posted!

  • glad I could be of some use ;-)

  • Thanks for the review! I was perusing Mid-East's website for ektaras and I wanted to hear want the tenor sounded like and that is how I came to watch this. I am sold as it is exactly what I am looking for to lead kirtan. Would love to see a post of you chanting with it. And thanks for the book recommendations, haven't heard of the Yogi Hari one and love Russill's. I will be drumming with him at Kripalu in late April. Namaste!
