  • big mistake ..you should NEVER use FACED batts OVER the top of blown in cellulose OR blown glass. you just created a huge moisture trap as now the insulation can no longer :breathe". I speak from doing OVER 5000 homes and 25 yrs experience. and compressing that glass compremised its r value by over 50%!

  • @jeepers2655 NO! depending on the depth AND type you have now, just blow more to achieve the proper Rvalue for your area BUT make sure you ( or they) AIR SEAL THE ATTIC FIRST. putting batts over the top of blown will not be worth your investment as the batts are Flat and the mounding of the blown will be a detriment as the flat bottom of the batts will NOT conform. hope this helps!
