http://www.MyPerfectCareer.tv: In the litigious world in which we live, we are always looking for someone to blame. I trip on the pavement, who's responsible? Who's fault was that? It can't have been that I wasn't paying attention, wasn't looking where I was going, could it? I mean surely someone, somewhere, is to blame?

This attitude prevails throughout society. And nowhere is it more prevalent than in the work place. Something goes wrong? Who's to blame? How can we be compensated? The accuser points the finger at the accused. The accused then looks to pass the buck in an attempt to save face.

Whatever happened to personal accountability and responsibility? When did it become unacceptable to say you know what, hands up, it was me, I screwed up, but you know what I am going to make damn sure that doesn't happen again and here's how?

From my experience, I never, not once, lost a customer, a sale, a job, an employee, an employer, through being straight and honest. People respected me for admitting when I screwed up, indeed in my experience it added to my credibility when making such an admission.

Step up. Take responsibility. Welcome accountability. Stop looking for someone to blame. If something goes wrong, look in the mirror and ask what can you do to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Successful people take responsibility. Successful people are accountable. Successful people don't look for someone to blame when something goes wrong. They look for the opportunity, they look as to how they can put things right.

Stop looking for someone to blame. If you want to make a change, take ownership.

Be honest with yourself, and be honest with others. Start now, you'll be amazed at just what an impact that honesty will have on your life.
