aaaah damnit.. my post is near the bottom

the point isn't that you've known it for "well over a year" and have the right tempo, but the point is you haven't given time to achieve the correct notes.
run through the solo at eighth note equals 54, then 56, then 58, then 60, then 63, etc. until up to tempo. it might kill you you go that slow, but it would help TONS.

Doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the tempo methinks. The only thing might be to take a bit of time and give a little space in places

I agree with Mighty925mouse.
Its an amazing piece yet the beauty of the piece gets lost in the tempo. great job though, its sounds great.

Good musicality. Balance between the "cherry blossoms" and the right hand e's was off at some parts. A tad too fast in some places. Speed works like dynamics. It's more powerful when there's a range. If you play through the lesser parts of the piece as fast as you do the climax, it just doesn't work as well. Especially if your note accuracy at the faster speeds is off. Tone it down to where you can hit all the notes. But for the most part, your note accuracy was good, especially on the lick.

nice performance - shame about the background noise!I agree that this is a good speed. other videos of this piece have been far too slow. It's nice that you move with the music, but try not to look contrived! People won't tell you to your face but we're online so it's OK! (take the end of the first section as an example) Make those last few Es just audible. same for the opening - draw the audience in. +WAIT as long as you dare @ the end of the piece - hold the silence! It's all about drama

wow..you play that piece very well, nice job! by the way...your drum show was killer sweeet, and that 'chromatic lick' was insane

ok do u people really think that it is that fast... have you heard a recording... yea... its alot better then the other vid of this solo... and a peice doesnt have to be slow inordor to be musical...

Bravo on accuracy. I do agree with the post that this seems much like a race, slow down some and let the piece speak. Remember rests are just as important as notes. Also play the cadenza like a cadenza! That's your chance to really use musical expression without the constraints of bar lines, don't rush through it! To the above post hes dressed in a tux obviously because there is an ensemble hes likely a part of that is set up behind him and he is playing this solo during the transition.
I've known this solo for well over a year, and i have played it for a few auditions, and honestly speed hasn't been an issue. If you listen to a few recordings on Keiko Abe's cd's, this is about the tempo she and other soloists play it at (if not slower).
