About the overplaying, most of his videos on youtube are from guitar workshops, this is from a Chet appreciation society concert. If you can't show off while playing for people who paid specifically to see how great you are, where exactly can you? You people appear in the comments under every guitar vid that contains a virtuosity that you can't match. But, at least YOU can play with emotion and feeling.

If there is a country/redneckjazz player in the world that beats Scotty when it comes to chops I have yet to hear him.
