What about "A People's History of the United States" published by Howard Zinn? I haven't read it yet, but I heard it contains very much of the atrocities commited towards native Americans and Blacks (and a few others).

The world hasn't come to that, you've just come a step closer to what the world is/was. It is horrible, and you should face it only step by step, because the sheer amount of brutality men have wreaked and are still committing over each other (and animals, not to forget that) is so endlessly terrible and sad.

What that poor boy went through. This story is so upsetting. No mother should go through what Mrs. Till went through. As a white woman I am repulsed and absolutely disgusted by what these animals did to Emmet. It starts with children. Teach your children to not pay attention to skin color. Granted we can't get along with everybody but let it be because of personality, not skin color--Dear God! Let's be good to one another!

What is seen here is part of a legacy of brutal practices against an innocent people who did nothing to deserve that. What's really apalling is that these practices continued well into the late 20th century. This is the "Black Holocaust" burning, castration, lynching were daily practices that so- called christian whites who professed love of Jesus did for sport and fun.
