Writer and journalist Jordi PuntÃí has published two books of short stories Armadillo Skin (Quaderns Crema, 1998), winner of the Crítica Serra dâOr Prize and Sad Animals (Quaderns Crema, 2000) which was well-received by both critics and the general public. PuntÃ's work bears witness to the complexity of interpersonal relationships: couples in crisis, solitary people watching television and eating pizza, or shoppers at Ikea who move in impersonal spaces. He has translated, among others, Paul Auster, Daniel Pennac and Amálie Nothomb. In 2004 he received the Octavo Pellissa Prize for literary projects. José Luis de Juan from Mallorca is a prize-winning author of five novels, a book of essays and a collection of short stories. His latest work, This Breathing World (Arcadia Books) is an unusual literary thriller which weaves together two stories, one set in first century Rome, the other in contemporary America.
