Of course its simple. Modding a ps3 is not the same as blowing up a bomb or running people over with your modded car. Are you really that stupid? Thats why a court decided that its perfectly legal to mod an iphone Why do you think sony settled the geohot lawsuit? Because they were afraid that a judge would rule that its legal to mod a ps3.

It's not as simple as buing a ps3 and then you can do whatever you want with it.
You CAN and SHOULD do whatever youre allowed to do with the system, theres a user agreement list that comes with the system, which states rules on how you may use the system.
It'ts like buying fertilizers, you could make a bomb with it but they don't want you to because you could hurt yourself or others (on purpouse nonetheless).
