Geez! I like this better than their hit" material!

@TopshelfTom Great job, Tom. 23 year old Dennis Yost was led singer on this and the flip side. Pollyanna was written recorded and produced by Billy Jor Royal. The flip side Cry Baby was JR Cobb's first songwriting published. Their second Capitol release came out on first promo by Classics, then by Classis IV. In between they were called the Four Classics for a few months. They all came out of Atlanta's Lowery music (Billy J. Royal, joe South, Tommy Roe, the Tams and others.

@Howieshet nick played bass tommy has a lot of guitars and plays them all the time frankie played a little drums and stand up bass how could it be a hit when they didnt write anything
-
@spacepatrolman Incorrect. Lead singer has a great straight voice, better than Frankie's. I will say Franki's falsetto is incomparable. But listen to Joe's(lead singer of 4 Evers) falsetto it is superb. Their hit song would have been a hit with or without Bob Gaudio. As far as instruments, Frankie and Nick Massi never played instruments and Tommy occasionally played guitar. The 4 Evers never got proper promotion from their labels. They were similar to the 4 Seasons but if you listened to them,

@Howieshet The 4 evers singer is just not as versatile as frankie and the 4 evers didnt play instruments the 4 seasons did without bob gaudio writting that song they would heve been even more unknown

Is anybody here aware of "Pollyanna" by John Corey on Vee Jay (1963). Features the Four Seasons themselves. Ironically, different song...same title!

Dennis Yost had an excellent falsetto...
Who was singing lead on this?

The late, great, Dennis Yost. This group changed their name to the Classics IV by the time their third 45 came along (their first for Imperial).
