So here we have it. I have exceeded my initial target time. Most friends were correct with their predictions :) I'm very happy overall with this run, but not completely. I would prefer to be under the minute rather than just over : / & Knowing what I now know, I could still knock some more time off. Mainly in Acts 1 & 2. My main aim throughout this whole run has been to push the limits of what is possible within a New Game speedrun. This meant a large amount of the time for this run was spent on discovering & testing methods. This also meant that discoveries would be made mid-run & that I couldn't completely optimise it. I wouldn't need no where near the same amount of time for a future run & it would also be faster. Most of the hard work was done in this run. Ideally I would like to sqeeze every possible second out of each section too. But that would take longer.
Liquid:
The rhythm for the 1-2 punch combo becomes progressively more difficult in each phase (except the 4th) to execute with any sort of consistency.
Phase 1: One of the easier phases where the rhythm is very lenient. The only problem here is trying to go too fast which causes a kick that breaks the rhythm.
Phase 2: The rhythm is less lenient here. You need to be quicker with the 1-2 combo. You can go all the way with the 1-2 combo just like the 1st phase. Although the timing is difficult. Thankfully I didn't have to waste time dodging his 'Take this!' punch. This didn't go entirely as planned either. There is little consistency in Liquid's movments. It's almost an improvised section. I take a hit here because I attempted to punch too early after. Having Snake's back turned to Liquid caused a roundhouse to come out instead. This was my first encounter with this problem. It just so happened to be on my fastest attempt though. My best attempt was ruined by Liquid in phase 3 (he has a tendency to thwart the best attempts : /) In that failed attempt I was 7 seconds faster at the end of this phase! If only!
Phase 3: The timing here to begin the rhythmic combo is very difficult. He usually blocks, evades or grabs Snake to thwart a fast attempt.
The title times will be updated on all vids within a day or 2.
Just out of interest, yesterday was exactly a year since the release of MGS4.
A future project that interests me is a MGS4 No Save New Game Big Boss Emblem Speedrun.
Watched the whole game run from start to end in one go, loved it. But I actually watched this run before, a long time ago when I was playing MGS4 a lot. But now a couple of days ago I stumbled across my MGS4 and it woke up some nostalgic memories, so I had to re-play this incredible game, and then when I was done I remembered this awesome speed run, thanks for an awesome speed run of an awesome game, very appreciated!

The only reason Snake is tired at the end of the fight is because it takes a lot of work to kick so much ass.
