Your feed hole is too large.
-
This is great!!!
-
i don't think your dimensions are right. all that soot/smoke is wasted fuel and makes a mess.

Its a wood rocket STOVE. If you are talking about verticle wood feed, you are talking about a wood rocket mass heater.
-
Is it wert yet?
-
Not a true rocket stove. You still need to add a verticle wood feed, and a burn tunnel. This is more like an outdoor fire place/bar-be-que/hobo/hillbill
y stove. Go inside where it is warm and cook on your kitchen stove. -
one last question
how did you make the holes in the cans ??

I place the 6" elbow against the base of the paint pail and using a felt tipped marker I draw a circle around the circumference of the elbow. Then I use a spring punch to create an indentation so the drill bit does not slip. After that I use a 1/2" drill bit to drill the hole and RED handled tin snips (I'm right handed)to cut out the circle you just created with the felt marker. Aprovecho has some wonderful solutions to working with sheet metal.See institutional barrel stove.

nice !!
what kind of can did you used ??

It's a 5 gallon paint pail. I used a 6" wood stove elbow and maybe about 10" or 12" of straight stove pipe. With a pot skirt it would boil much faster and use less wood. I hope this helps.

In one of the comments, you mention brewing beer with a rocket stove. Did you try this? How'd it work? I'm tempted to try but I'm concerned about excessive carmelisation or scorching due to the focused heat.

I haven't tried to boil wort on the rocket stove as I 'm working on other projects right now.Perhaps installing a damper over the entrance of the fuel shelf might regulate the temperature of the fire,or maybe by not shoving sticks into the combustion chamber too far so as not to encourage excessive burning. This rocket stove is made of a 5gallon paint pail a 6inch woodstove elbow and 6inch x 24" straight pipe and pail is filled with vermiculite or perlite easy to make and hardly uses any fuel

How long does it take to start the fire in the stove?

I started it up the other day using paper and very dry twigs,it took about 15 seconds to get going.Once the metal elbow got hot the flames were almost a foot out the top of the chimney.
