@Blacklorigine I feel you bro. I'm glad we could discuss it without turning it into a trolling contest. A rare occurrence and a triumph in this troll-friendly internet culture, especially on youtube, home of the most epic trollfests ever.

@willV Haha, it's ok dude, I've nothing against you : D I didn't like this comment but if you say yourself that you've gone too far, there's no problem bro ;) Anyway, Peter is one of the best, my fav jazz drummer.

@Blacklorigine read more than just that one reply that I posted, I've since retracted some of my statements!

@willV But, if you listen some blotted science, you'll see that metal can be really complex ;). And in your post you said that metal is in the kid stuff category, does'nt it mean that it's an easy thing? And yes, Hannes studied jazz, but what he does with obscura isn't like jazz AT ALL, altough it's really complex..
And even blast beats are an upbeat things, it might be more repetitive; but it's by all mean no "kid stuff". Unless if you talked about bad metal drummers, but it's the same in jazz.

@willV ...I like it BETTER than what I would real metal drumming. It's clear that he has studied other styles (like oh, say, JAZZ!) and that's what gives him that extra flavor in those parts that aren't just blasts/skanks/double bass. Also, I never said anything about which music is HARDER to play, as I know metal is PHYSICALLY challenging. I mentioned which style I think is more complex.

@Blacklorigine Wrong, I actually listened to alot of metal. My first years drumming I listened to nothing but metal and it's all I played. Read ALL my comments here, I wasn't trying to bad mouth metal, I just went a little overboard in my rebuttals. My criticisms were directed at TYPICAL styles of metal. The drummer you posted has clearly studied more than just metal, and I wish more metal drummers approached it like he does. I disagree that his style is what makes "real metal drumming", but...

@willV to clarify- I was rubbed the wrong way by a comment that seems to have been removed from here. "Kid stuff" was definitely going too far and while I still do feel there is a lack of dynamics and upbeat phrasings, it's not a complete lack either. I am simply referring to the MOST TYPICAL STYLES OF METAL.
But metal lovers are kidding themselves if they think metal is even close to the complexity of jazz. Metal has 2 problems that will forever keep it in the kid stuff category-
1. Complete lack of dynamics
2. Complete inability by most metal players to phrase effectively with upbeats, making the music sound all the more stiff because of it. It is completely downbeat oriented music.
