Since the original shorter version of this video experienced copyright issues and thus had its audio muted, I have decided to re-work it with a different soundtrack, and here it is now - Just another tribute to my beloved Prince, this time focused on the very start of his heroic enterprise of 1745-46 — a handful of months during which a 24-year old from Italy managed, by sheer willpower, intelligence and personal vigour and strength (not to mention his amazingly chivalrous behaviour and ethical code in war, so strikingly different from that of his enemy) to unleash something extraordinary in conjuction with his faithful highlanders: a peculiar mixture of courage, extreme and unswavering loyalty and commitment. Something legendary and undying, which, despite defeat and cruel repression, still lives and breathes in the Highlands. It was a noble attempt indeed.
Music provided by two related songs, starting with Alan Reid and Rob Van Sante's version of "Sound the Pibroch", an old song on the landing of the Prince and the summoning of the clans. It is followed by Capercaillie's version of "Oran Eile Do'n Phrionnsa" (an 18th-century song by bard Alexander MacDonald inviting Charles Edward to come over) from their terrific album "Glenfinnan - Songs of the '45", chosen to accompany the second, more sombre part of the video, contrasting Charles's farewell to his men with the previous hopeful images of his arrival amongst them.
