However you like to take out a location, I prefer Kaidan for his biotics (like when a krogan comes running at me I just get him to throw the lizard over me). In the end it all comes down to who you prefer. Besides, make two separate saves, see what you like better.
That's the tough choice you have, make it yourself :)

Kaidan is definitely the better choice over ashley, he gives you access to both tech and biotic abilities which is an incredible advantage when you play on higher difficulties, and propably also in ME2. Ashley was my love interest my first time around, but I asked myself the same question, and kaidan is definately the better choice.

During the decision I waited almost fifteen minutes trying to decide, so don't get me wrong it's a tough choice :P
I chose Kaidan in the end though, partly because of his biotics but mostly for the romance thing. Though I do different things on different playthroughs, I'm going to save Ashley this time through.

i havnt touched the game for a week cos im stil making the decision lol. anyway i think i might choose kaidan 4 some reason, i dont know. btw who did you choose?

Kaidan is more tech-y with biotics. Ashley is the soldier/fighter. That's the only thing. Other than that it's just personal preference.
