  • Well, to my knowledge the M5X Carbon has been around for just as long as the XR1R - it's unfortunate that the manufacturers are not willing to help themselves more by giving helmets to review. A few grams can actually make quite a lot of difference certainly for racing. Not only does it mean you'll weigh less (all be in a few grams) it also means there is less tension on the riders neck at high speeds.

Just to clarify though... the Nexx XR1R is our favourite helmet here at Moto Central :)

  • @MotoCentralUK By the way, check out also our review of the new Lazer Monaco carbon fiber flip-up, the lightest flip-up we've reviewed and in the top 6 lightweight helmets of any type we've reviewed! (See the webBikeWorld Helmet Weights page for a listing by weight).

  • Although many of the comments by webbikeworld are true in this video. There are several full face helmets on the market that are lighter than the XR1R available in Europe such as the Bell M5X carbon and the M4R Carbon

  • @MotoCentralUK This review is now a year or more old, and we haven't reviewed every helmet ever made, so who knows. One thing is certain: we weigh the helmets on a certified scale. Most helmet manufacturers publish a weight of their smallest size helmet. So until we have an actual retail sample and can weigh it, one will never really know which is the lightest helmet. But in the end, what difference does a few grams make? The Nexx XR1R is a very, very light weight helmet.

  • @wbwvids Yes the Monaco seems to be a great helmet, especially with that photocromatic visor! it's another manufacturer we do sell but we always like listening to what others have to say. You guys generally seem to hit the nail on the head with stuff time after time.

  • @m5zealot I dont know how valid your concerns are. All helmets - whether it be Arai, Shoei or Nexx all have to pass the same safety standards which make them all equally safe in terms of protection to the rider. The only differences are weight, comfort, and ventilation. Not buying this helmet because you are afraid it will put you at risk is not justifiable in my opinion.

  • power ranger =)

  • Checked out the helmet at a local shop and loved it! So light and beautiful. However, I don't know if I can give up my Arai helmets. I have gone down in my Vector and it saved my life. A guy at the shop told me he high sided on the track weeks before and the top of this helmet caved in. He survived but he will stick to his Arais from now on. Now if only Arai can make a helmet this light......sold!

  • @motogpslider i switch mine almost daily. dark shield for the daytime and clear at night.

  • @motogpslider Good question, I don't think I've ever replaced one, but some webBikeWorld visitors say they change them a few times a day.
