possessed Christmas tree, oh possessed Christmas tree.

you simply put an electromagnetic charge into the cone and the magnetic fluid goes up it. there, for all you idiots.
-
I wish I had hair that could do this

If its influenced by a extremely strong magnetic field, will it be able to hold its shape and resist forces like a metal solid (despite technically being a liquid)?

This videi just...makes me happy, for no apparent reason.
-
i wanna poke it....

at first i thought this was animated but then i started watching other vids about it and figuyred out it wasn't this stuff is amazing

Well... It is still a liquid.
First thing that would happen is your fingers would be stained very badly. I'm sorry my answer is so late. Follow @thegeekgroup to learn more about this wonderful little enigma that is ferrofluid

@mrjaurez i reckon it would hack fingers off, do you want to try first? lol ;-)
well it's a ferrofluid..the title says that...lol
It's a liquid that is strongly influenced by a magnetic field. It has lots of nano-sized ferromagnetic particles suspended in a fluid (like water). If you've ever seen iron filings in the presence of a magnet, this is the same - only lots more filings, and the fluid is generally dense enough to support the shapes it makes.
It's a magnetic fluid ;)
