You crazy kids will burn down the house! LOL...

install a flame holder and defuser at the fount flame holder at the rear exhost and use denatured alchol not rubbing alchol, plus hold your fuel can highter then the engine to prevent bubbles in the line,

@Iamthemuffinmonster ramjets do not sustain on their own, they only work when air is being forced (rammed) into them. Most cruise missiles, for example, use ramjets but they need to be rocket propelled to get them up to a fast enough speed for the ramjet to work.
-
Did you ever get it to sustain? Or did you have to run the leaf blower the whole time?
-
It's more like a horizontal bunsen burner...
-
OMG, at 0:56 it burns more fuel and hotter
-
I'm sorry to burst your bubble but this doesn't appear to be a ramjet. A ramjet requires supersonic flow, which creates shock waves inside the nozzle which heat the flow inside to a temperature hot enough to burn fuel.. obviously still cool though!
-
you seem to be burning a bit rich...

I was wondering if you had some type of pdf file or word document explaining step by step how you guys did this. Also, have you guys ever made an engine using car parts (turbo charger ect...). I'm trying to begin a project similar. Any advice will be well taken! Thanks

@cristianomaddog Trust cannot be measured. It is something you either have or you don't. You must trust that what you are seeing is the truth. LOL~~~~~ Yoda
Are you using someting to blow air inside the engine?
Would be nice to mesure the trust.

Cristian: We used an electric leaf blower to shoot air through the engine. The thrust is probably not significant. Because of the scale and type of fuel, the engine does a good job of demonstrating the principles of a jet engine, but does not create much force. But it does put on a good show!

That's a great idea!

how did you get the fuel in there? manually or a pump?
Marco112390 2 years ago
Marco: The fuel was fed into the combustion chamber with a plastic bottle and some tubing connected to a small plumbing fitting that went through the engine wall. The fuel was rubbing alcohol. Gravity was enough to feed the fuel into the engine. The airflow going through the chamber created an air/fuel mixture for combustion.
