  • same song, he put the bass up, changed the audio channel and compressed the video so that the quality is less

  • And why should I do that ?

  • i like the snare sound in this, also love how the solo rings out.

  • In a better quality it would be awesome !

  • mix? xD i don't hear it! ..... omg

  • Yes, it's the Butch Vig - rough mix in the best available quality you can get...

  • I think if the whole album sounded like this it would've been better, the Andy Wallce mixes are just a little too tweaked. Listen to this on a stereo, the quality on this video sucks. These versions are much more raw, but still well produced and this is what Nirvana was truly all about. Butch Vig should've just mixed this whole album.

  • sounds kewl man! 5/5 ^_^

  • you can clearly hear the difference, >.>

No bro, the best available quality is on the 'With The Lights Out' boxset. This version is an old leaked version that was traded amongst collectors on tapes. The sound quality is bad, because in those days people copied tapes and then traded them on. Each time a tape was copied, the sound quality deteriorated. It just so happens that this EXACT copy is the one that circulated the most.

Check out livenirvana. You'll find everything you need to know on bootlegs over there.

The fact that you got 4 thumbs up for that comment just shows how little people know of their Nirvana history...

No mate, you are actually incorrect. This version has circulated for years.

It is actually the bootlegged version of the Butch Vig mix.

Years before the boxset 'With The Lights Out' was released, this version of the Vig mix circulated amongst collectors (myself included). Listen, it only has ONE vocal the whole way through, unlike the album version which is double-tracked.

The reason that the quality is bad, is because us bootleggers used to use tapes, you know. Before MP3 ;)

  • so. much. better.

  • @SillyMusic97 the "rough mix" espression in music means only the pre-retail version. this is what Kurt, Dave and Krist recorded initially, then Butch had mix it

  • This is the best version of this song I've ever heard. My god, the snare sounds AMAZING.

  • The difference between this and the album mix is the guitar solo. On this version, the guitar solo is more prevalent and when it ends, the feedback is more resonant, especially when Kurt sings the last verse. The album version tones that down a bit during that verse.

  • sounds like a completely different song. A completely different, and much better, song.

  • It sounds better this way
