  • I feel your heart...

  • I saw that on "Taboo". The outcome is deformity and life long pain but I don't think the main aim of the mothers (and grandmothers) is to cause deformity. On the show, it stated that when the girls start developing breasts, they are attractive to men and they get MARRIED. In that culture, married women don't go to school. So the mothers iron the child's breasts to ensure she finishes school. It's drastic and disturbing. The mothers think they are ensuring their daughters have a better future.Sad

  • I never heard of that. that's terrible and I know it comes from a place of wanting to protect the girls from harm but it's not right.

  • I watched this on the tv show "Taboo" also and I was so disturbed by this. I still don't believe by doing this to the girls it will prevent men from raping them. Yes they won't be as attractive to look at, but if a man is evil and desperate enough to rape all he would care about is that she has a vagina. I pray for those women in those countries.

  • I remember hearing about this on a show entitled "Taboo". I was disturbed by this also. At that young age, I can see why the mother's think that ironing their child's breast may seem like the best idea, but in the long run it has a very negative affect. All cultures have a tradition that is special to them, but it goes too far when your life is affected forever. This is a torture in my eyes, but who am I to judge...

  • This is too sad. I totally disagree with this tradition !

  • :(

  • i've never heard of this until you made this video, but have since read a few articles online about it. i'm so sorry to hear this. i believe in human rights for all.

  • Great vid.

  • Some of these traditions are born out of pure ignorance!! That practice is horrible!!!
