#1 Catherine Wheel - Crank (plus Intro)

This is the first in a new series I am going to be uploading on this channel.

It seems such a cliche, but music really has been an essential key to my life. From the highs, the lows, and the grey areas in between there has always been a song that'll contemplate my mental state.

I felt that it was time to actually involve something I am at least INTERESTED in to share with you all. On my PC I have a list of songs that come under the title 'Favourite Songs of All Time'. These songs are the elite. They are the classic. The timeless. The everlasting. They are the records that remain fresh yet so dense with meaning that they continue to shape my life in some way.

I am going to be covering each of these songs with their very own video, accompanied by an intro video where I give you a small introduction to the artist. During the playing of the song I pop up little factoids about the song and artist with a slight comic twist, purely because we can't be oh so serious all of the time!

The songs will appear in no particular order (believe me, trying to order my favourite songs would be an impossible task!) but this is the first one that I am going to present to you. Enjoy.

This is the first song by Catherine Wheel when it was getting limited airplay on alternative stations that were just starting up in the U.S. I don't think they get anywhere near the credit for their style that they deserve I got hooked the first time I heard it and bought the disc. Not disappointing in the least..

I've been a Catherine Wheel fan for SO long, I'm glad you appreciate them as well. And thanks for the info offered in your intro. It's always nice to learn more about the band. I'm in the States so I'm pretty far removed from their scene.

Hey man, nice work, and i agree with the whole shoegaze 'voice as an instrument' thing but with this song i remember an interview with rob dickinson and he said crank is a term for a weird and eccentric person and this tune is about how happy he is to think he is an unusual character and he takes comfort from people viewing him in this way. When i listen to the lyrics i get that vibe, not sure if anyone will agree but thought you'd like another opinion!
